Common Questions

A PPC is a Transport Canada–mandated evaluation that confirms a pilot can safely and competently operate a specific aircraft type. It assesses technical knowledge, normal and abnormal procedures, emergency handling, and overall flight performance.
Most commercial helicopter pilots operating under CARs Subpart 702, 703, 704, or 705 require a PPC every 12 months. Some operators conduct them more frequently based on company SOPs or operational requirements.
You must complete all required company training for your role — ground school, aircraft systems, SOPs, emergency procedures, and flight training. Your Chief Pilot or Company Training Pilot must also provide a formal recommendation. Transport Canada requires 7 days notice before undertaking a PPC.
A complete PPC typically takes 3–4 hours, including oral questions, flight planning, normal/abnormal procedures, and emergency sequences. Simulator PPCs vary depending on the plan of action or operator script.
If a pilot does not meet the required standards, Transport Canada requires a full re-test of all PPC items. Additional training must be completed before attempting the re-test.
Only an Approved Check Pilot (ACP) or a Transport Canada Civil Aviation Safety Inspector (CASI) can conduct a PPC, following the procedures in the PPC Flight Test Guide (TP 14728E).

Night Vision Goggle Training

Building the NVG mindset, scan patterns, and situational awareness necessary for safe and confident aided night operations.

NVG Training That Builds Operators

Night vision changes how pilots fly and how they make decisions. My NVG training is designed from the ground up to build the skills, mindset, and judgment needed for real night operations — not just to satisfy a training requirement.

Whether you're new to goggles, looking to sharpen advanced techniques, or need someone to review your company's NVG program, this training is built for pilots who actually fly NVG missions.

Aerial Dog Training

Building strong, confident K9 partners for helicopter operations through positive, structured acclimatization.

Building Strong Foundations

Training dogs for helicopter operations takes time and patience. Each step must build on positive experiences and associations — by carefully reading and understanding a dog's behavior, we create trust and reduce stress, ensuring that every exposure to the aircraft environment is constructive.

This approach allows dogs to develop confidence and reliability, making them safe and effective partners in the field — whether for search and rescue, law enforcement, or operational support.

Working dog inside helicopter — acclimatization training

Training Approach

  • Positive reinforcement at every stage
  • Reading and responding to individual dog behavior
  • Gradual, structured exposure to aircraft sounds, movement, and environment
  • Building calm, reliable behavior under operational conditions
  • Confidence development for both dog and handler

Suitable For

  • Search and rescue K9 teams
  • Law enforcement working dogs
  • Avalanche and mountain rescue dogs
  • Any dog requiring reliable helicopter deployment
